okay ive edited the blogspot template to include comments and a chatbox etc, tho so far i have yet to see them when im testing my page. damn its almost time for me to go off already.. mm. if theyre up do let me know, if not, also let me know! your input makes a difference!! believe me!! ^_^

next: updating the links (yes im terribly sorry to have not included all my bloggy frens so far.. you know who you are... =| ) and tweaking the template subtly so that the links n all will display properly (i think the design will suck cos i just cut n pasted the code for all the diff chatbox etc services).. and maybe if i have time, a new layout (dreamweaver dependent, of course).

dreamweaver mx looks so cool. just love those product packaging boxes.. *drool*

the whole world must be watching the ending minutes of the world cup finals now, and what am i doing? bashing away at my blog. *bash is some old text editor in unix.. (correct me if im wrong) nursing a throbbing foot from too much crazy dancing the night before. note to self: must overcome inhibition if i am to club properly in future. =|

okay feeling really guilty about not going swimming after telling everybody about my new weekly swimming plan.. which was to have landed me squarely in 6-pack territory in time for my first ibiza [ee-bee-tha, folks.. not eye-bye-za or (shudder) eat-pizza.. aside: does anybody remember the (shudder) vengaboys' "let's go to ibiza" which many people misheard as "lets go to eat pizza"??? dont groan, calvin.] but thats like still eons away, long after everyone around me has gone on to study already. well heres my resolution anyways: to work out- running/weights/swimming or whatever, so long as i can still take the punishment after i come back for my (well-deserved, IMHO!!) downtime every weekend, so maybe i can finally wear an unbuttoned hawaiian to the beach, or even swim, without feeling bad about it.

BTW since im swimming in public pools ive kinda got over the fear of exposing a laughable body in public.. but it still doesnt change things i guess. *shrug*

speaking of sublime... this IS pretty cool. the pembroke college winnie-the-pooh society. which is listed in the cambridge students' union directory under the category 'just plain daft'.. mmmm. tantalizing...

dreamweaver seems to be a very easy way to put up my page but im loathe to use it esp cos ive been such a html purist all along.. theres just something lacking when all you have to do is drag and drop vs hard coding from scratch all the way. dont quite know why.. realised dreamweaver 4 (i think) is available on academic edition (AE) cheap again. reminds me of *that* time when i went to buy the multimedia futurepack which was the first macromedia AE bundle, director was back to 5.0 then i think.. yes i do think so! and then i shelled out for ALL the printed manuals, which cost more than the software and are still languishing, shrink-wrapped, somewhere in my big pile of computing tomes. now you see why i borrow them from the library instead nowofdays...

mmmm. grooving along to Gilles Peterson's Global Underground on WKRZ913 now. cool stuff. is it jazz? im not very sure- its got the subtle *flavour* of jazz, the attitude, sometimes, but then again it sounds way too modern and progressive for stereotypical smoky-lounge 30/40s jazz. never felt very strongly for or against jazz (as do many people i know- more against than for) like i do against metal.. maybe its just a logical ancestor of chill-out. now, chill out..... thats a totally different story altogether, for another post.

ill be creating a new template in dreamweaver but i think ill at least attempt to include all the site tracking and comments n what not features this week, before they rot in ignominy.. sigh. hope they dont delete my accounts just cos theyre not active..

think im getting fat again, no time to go swimming this weekend cos of the all-impt SOCIAL NIGHT last night, which ended terribly late.. which led to a late morning today... which led to a late [you get the idea] yadda yadda yadda... . mmmz. calvin did a great job djing tho its pretty sad when he tried to get everybody dancing with "Heaven is a Place on Earth" which he claimed would send all the girls screaming and wanting to dance. poor thing- not a chance, in the end it was the guys who went down, a few songs later... and by the time things really got rocking it was time to end! must take note of all these things, it'll be my turn next time- calvins leaving already. pity. =(

anyway it turned out to be more of a class reunion more than anything, since virtually our entire class was there, even all the [extremely lucky] people who already went overseas to study, since it was their hols anyway. im thankful, cos otherwise i wouldve felt really out of place, its always good to have a base of people you already know when u tend to be less social (*sigh*). muchos gracias to grace for being there at such short notice, haha... apologies again! ^_^

heard a song thats gotta be the song of the week but i forgot what it was called again... well done, me! =(

mm its another week of failed dHTML programming. realised this blog's turning more into a in-development journal on what im doing to my site... its pretty sad then isnt it? but there just isnt enough time every weekend to do all these things. hopefully ill be able to come home n use e com on a daily basis soon. keeping my fingers crossed...

anyway, in development this week: tried the webmonkey dHTML tutorial on ie4 on my 'work' computer (with no internet access, alas) but the stupid drop down menu wouldnt work!! have no idea why- esp since e tutorial was written in the time when the 4.0 browsers just came out. weird..

and hopefully all the cool features i applied for last week from 3rd party providers will still be active by the time i come back next week. hope so... till next wk!

not much time this week to update, im already running a backlog, havent written all the interesting things that happened on the bangkok trip 2 weeks ago. man... spending all my time swimming and working on the new look for this blog: been slogging away at it on my work com (without internet access) on ie4 using a 640x480 screen. wrote down the code very nicely.. then the moment i test it at home, it looks weird in ie6 at 1024x768 and it TOTALLY screws up in mozilla/navigator. screwed up!! so went out to grab some CSS/dHTML books from the orchard library. sigh- its really difficult to find books when u dont have a particular one in mind and are actually going there to look for one!! bah. trying very hard not to dump in another song lyric... dont want it to become a regular thing. or maybe i should? dunno...

check this out: Elvis vs JXL (Junkie XL) "A Little Less Conversation"... from the Nike tv ad.

Pulp - "Disco 2000"

Well we were born within one hour of each other
Our mothers said we could be sister and brother
Your name is Deborah. Deborah. It never suited ya
And they said that when we grew up, we'd get married and never split up
We never did it although often I thought of it

Oh Deborah, do you recall
Your house was very small with wood chip on the wall
When I came around to call you didn't notice me at all
I said let's all meet up in the year 2000
Won't it be strange when we're all fully grown
Be there at 2 o'clock by the fountain down the road
I never knew that you'd get married
I would be living down here on my own
On that damp and lonely Thursday years ago

You were the first girl at school to get breasts
Martyn said that yours were the best
The boys all loved you but I was a mess
I had to watch them trying to get you undressed
We were friends but that was as far as it went
I used to walk you home sometimes but it meant
Nothing to you, cause you were so popular

Ah Deborah, do you recall
Your house was very small with woodchip on the wall
When I came around to call you didn't notice me at all
I said let's all meet up in the year 2000
Won't it be strange when we're all fully grown
Be there at 2 o'clock by the fountain down the road
I never knew that you'd get married
I would be living down here on my own
On that damp and lonely Thursday years ago

Oh yeah, oh yeah

Oh what are you doing Sunday baby
Would you like to come and meet me maybe you can even bring your baby
Ohhh ooh ooh. Ooh ooh ooh ooh
What are you doing Sunday baby
Would you like to come and meet me maybe you can even bring your baby
Ooh ooh oh. Ooh ooh ooh ooh. Ooh ooh ooh ooh. Oh.

OH NO! its 1830~ i must hurry, said the little white rabbit.

this is sad. i know why my page has been brewing for 6-7 years already.. its such a *drag* doing the actual coding.

~muzik~

i just cant get you outta my head: Nick Cave - "Disco 2000"
***** nick cave's cover of pulp's Disco 2000, on the B-side of the latter's latest single Bad Cover Version. first heard on a bangkok english radio station (wow, theyre pretty progressive, arent they? - Ed.) during the recent fanZINE editorial retreat. *hardly* a dance song- its very acoustic and his voice is just so warbly (and sad) at the right parts. a charged and poignant tale of hidden love and wasted opportunities. nice. ~sniff
[ill come back n update this wif links to lyrix etc... if and when e homepage is up. er... heh]

boy-band song of the moment: a1 - "Make It Good"
**** ah, a1 has always been a curious one- a boyband wif a pulse for the current direction of pop- well, make that their songwriters/producers, i think (dont bash me a1 fans!!!!). good music knows no boundaries so wif all due respect a1 makes it good on the fanZINE muzik post. (ha ha corny joke...) (you're fired - Ed.) absolutely the uplifting song of this week.

going to hold on the negative reviews for now... =|

now using IE6 to blog.. taxing system resources, cos im keeping mozilla open as well. heck, mozillas a far better browser imho- so stable, so solid (ahahaha- clever joke) n i just adore e tabbed browsing idea. so what if its copied from opera? i always adored opera too.. anyhow in practical terms it means u can actually do the web equivalent of channel surfing without your com chugging along at the pace of a snail choking on its own slime (dont correct me if im wrong). okay so i guess ive caved in, blogspot *is* a much easier way to be doing my blog. but i havent given up on the on-my-own-site idea... hell, no! ^_^ brinkster's still a very good adfree host thats awfully fast n supports ASP. ill just figure out a way to, ahem, integrate e two- mayhap using a similar stylesheet or just leaving brinkster for my live testing (ASP) n getting another host that supports ftp. imho ftp uploading is such a drag- cue e reason why i dun have a ftp client on this com- but i just may be forced into it again. anyhow blogspot and brinkster will do for now. damn i hope im not giving too much of my originally-planned layout before e site's even up....

oh crap i dont think blogger supports mozilla very well.. i think i just lost a whole page of typed stuff. sigh
